What is Sun Tan?
What Causes Skin to Tan?
- The main reason for getting a suntan is the excessive production of a pigment called 'MELALIN' in the skin. Melanin starts increasing in the body when exposed to the sunlight directly. Due to which the skin tone changes and the skin starts looking darker.
- If your skin is exposed to direct sunlight without any protection, then nothing can stop your skin from getting tan.
- Sunscreen helps to protect the skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun but if the sunscreen is not applied to your skin then the harmful rays of the sun will definitely damage the skin.
- Many people apply sunscreen on their skin just before going out in the sun which is completely wrong. (If you plan to go out in the sun then make sure you should apply sunscreen before 30 mins).
